Stuart J. Turnbull-Dugarte
About
I am a quantitative political scientist whose research interests span political sociology, comparative politics, and behavioural science. My work focuses on LGBTQ+ politics, social and political identities, far-right parties and voters, and elections and campaigns.
I received my PhD in Political Science in 2020 from the Department of Political Economy at King's College London. In addition to my researching and teaching roles, I also currently serve as an Associate Editor at Public Opinion Quarterly, the European Journal of Politics & Gender, and Research & Politics.
I am very proudly a first gen student and I dedicate part of my time to mentoring other first gen students in their journey through university life. I am also very keen on normalising transparency on issues related to poor mental health in academia & talk openly about my own struggle with depression (#ihadablackdog), anxiety, and the Velvet Rage. If you are in need of support, I am readily available to talk.
The Rainbow Vote — forthcoming with Princeton University Press
Supported by the generous funding from the Leverhulme Trust, this book examines the political behaviour and attitudes of LGBTQ+ voters across multiple Western European countries using diverse experiments.
